Systematic equity research

Long. Short. Square.

01 · What we do

Systematic equity research and quantitative models

VetraSquare develops systematic long/short equity strategies, combining economic hypotheses, point-in-time data and disciplined testing.

We are building at least 12 months of live real-money trading history, with track-record certification through AuditZK, before assessing the next steps.

Live trading with real capital. No investment product is currently offered through this website.

Four principles for research

Economic logic

A pattern in past data is not enough: the return needs an economic account.

Evidence after costs

The test is a period the model has not seen, with costs counted.

Portfolio contribution

Models are assessed for what they add to a hypothetical combined portfolio.

Ongoing challenge

No model is final: its assumptions and evidence remain open to challenge.

Our research philosophy

02 · Our development

From research to live trading

Four stages connect research to validation in real markets. We are now trading with real capital.

  1. Research

An economic hypothesis, a defined strategy and a risk framework.

  2. Backtest

Historical testing, costs and robustness, with assumptions and limitations documented.

  3. Live paper trading

Observe the strategy and its execution in real time through a simulated account.

  4. Live real-money trading

    Current stage

Real capital. A minimum of 12 months of documented results.

At least 12 months of real-money trading before assessing the record and the next steps. The duration alone does not determine the decision.

Track-record certification

We use AuditZK for track-record certification. Verification concerns the trading data and does not guarantee future performance.

03 · Process

From hypothesis to a documented model

Research question

An internal research paper records the question, economic hypothesis, prior research, data and information timing, methods and testing protocol. It keeps the evidence, limitations and research conclusions together.

Validation

Validation asks whether the evidence holds on unseen periods, with results measured after costs, how sensitive it is to parameter choices and how stable it is across periods.

Model portfolio analysis

A model that looks sound alone may add little to a hypothetical combined portfolio. Correlation, overlapping positions, common factors and liquidity are assessed alongside its contribution to the whole.

Research output

The output is a documented model, its assumptions, limitations and review criteria. Any future product implementation would depend on separate agreements, responsibilities and applicable regulatory requirements.

Hypothetical

Hypothetical schematic of how strategies are designed to combine. Offsetting long and short positions in the same company net out. Not actual strategies, holdings or weights.
